Trend Report: Bathtime

The innovations by Santoni are explored in regular updates that examine new developments in stitch, yarn, fiber, engineering and technical knowledge for the circular knitting market.

Creating textiles for the washroom allows us to explore the many capabilities of seamless and circular knitting and how it can help to improve our daily ritual. New developments in terry technology introduce us to the possibility of knitted towels and soft, absorbing bathrobes that aid us to feel comforted and supported as we get ready for the day or wind down before bedtime.

The desire to have a spotless bathroom is reflected often in the choices we make for the materials used; marble, ceramic tile and porcelain. Not only are these materials beautiful, they give us a hard surface that is easy to wipe down and clean.  For this reason it is necessary that the textiles we use in our bathrooms give us a softness that is welcoming against our skin, to provide a comforting touch with moisture absorbtion.

Using anti-microbial fibers and treatments for shower curtains and window shades could help alleviate the issue we regularly get with these items being susceptible to mold and damp. Looking to integrate these qualities into the cleaning cloths we use could also be a key way to help break down bacteria in a more holistic and sustainable way than harsh cleaning products and chemicals.
